A brief history
Castello di Fonterutoli - owned by the Mazzei family since 1435 - covers a total surface of 650 hectares, of which 110 are devoted to vineyards, divided into seven sites.
All the main operations - pruning, tying, stripping leaves, thinning out the bunches and harvesting, are carried out manually and in different times and ways for each plot.
The in-depth knowledge of our land together with forty years' research allowed us to select 36 types of Sangiovese, some of which are exclusively held by the Castello di Fonterutoli, making us a unique protagonist of Chianti Classico area.
