Nose
A floral bouquet of violets, with fruit forward notes of mulberries, blackberries and blueberries alongside hints of sweet spices and cacao.
Palate
The palate is dominated by fresh and ripe cherry flavors. The tannins are rounded and tasty. The finish is long hinting at dark berry fruits and balsamic herbs with some baking spices.
Growing Conditions
Area: Lamole, in the commune of Greve in Chianti
Vineyards Altitude: 420 - 655 meters above sea level
Soils: sandstone containing Galestro (schistous clay) and Macigno Toscano, with alberese (limestone).
Training System: Cordon Spur and the traditional arched cane system of Chianti
Winemaking
The grapes are destalked and the berries are passed through an optical sorter. After pressing, the must ferments with the skins in stainless steel tanks until late Wintertime.
Aging
A minimum of 18 months in oak barrels and botti of different sizes.
Appearance
Its a bright ruby red color.
Food Pairing
This wine goes marvelously with dishes that contain spices or have fresh and dry herbs. It can be a great companion to a cheeseburger, herb roasted chicken and chickpea Shakshuka.
