When the Selvanella Estate was acquired at the beginning of the 1960s, it was immediately clear that the terroir was highly suitable for Sangiovese. Following a massal selection, 50 hectares were planted in one single area making it the most extensive vineyard in Radda in Chianti and the largest Chianti Classico Cru.

Vigneti La Selvanella is a unique terroir which produced its first Riserva with the 1969 vintage, it was one of the very first Italian wines to undergo selection and vinification for a Cru of Origin label.

In 1975, in a blind tasting in Castellina in Chianti, La Selvanella 1971 was chosen as the Representative Wine of the League of Chianti and was among the first wines to be awarded the “Tre Bicchieri” by the prestigious Gambero Rosso  guide.

Despite the various trends that have had an influence on style over the years, Chianti Classico Riserva Vigneti La Selvanella has always remained true to itself. A wine of genuine and unique style.
